About Us

We believe that salvation, and eternal life in Heaven, comes
through repentance and belief in Jesus Christ, (John 3:14-18)
and those who are born-again (John 3:3) are eternally
secure (John 10:28-29).  Those who fail to believe will, of
their own choosing, spend an eternity in Hell. (Luke 16:19-26)
As taught by Christ, we baptize by immersion, (Matthew 3:13-17)
observe the Lord's Supper (I Corinthians 11:23-26) twice a year
and, following His example, we wash feet (John 13:13-14) once
a year.  To become a church member one is asked to share his/her
personal salvation experience, profess his/her faith in
Christ (Romans 10:10) and be baptized, or join by letter from a
church of like-faith.
Bethany began as a log church lit by kerosene lamps on Red
Top Mountain Road in 1902.  The church was forced to
relocate in the 1940's due to the construction of the
Allatoona Dam.  The present Bethany on Old Alabama Road
in Emerson was completed in 1953, with several facility additions
since that time.  It is our hope that all who enter will be
touched by His presence, transformed by His love and
encouraged to live a Christ-centered life.
